BaseStone Highly Commended at British Construction Industry Awards

The annual British Construction Industry Awards were held last Wednesday 12th October in The Grosvenor Hotel, London. We were humbled and overwhelmed to be shortlisted for an award, which are regarded as the most prestigious awards across the industry – often referred to as the ‘Oscars of Construction’. This was the 29th year of the BCI Awards which celebrates outstanding project delivery across the industry.

The ‘Application of Technology’ award recognises exemplar projects that lead the field in embracing new technology across the supply chain. BaseStone were shortlisted for their work with the Costain-Skanska Joint Venture at Crossrail’s Paddington site. Using our mobile technology to create as-built redlines and snag simultaneously from the field, a cost-saving of 65% was demonstrated as well as bringing intelligence to the data collected from the construction site. A follow up study championed by Crossrail’s Innovate18 department and led by Crossrail’s Six-Sigma team quantified the productivity gain to be between 55% and 95% per user per month.

Last week we won Highly Commended recognition from the BCIA, the first tech-company ever to do this. A huge congratulations to all those who have supported us and who have been involved, particularly the Costain Skanska JV Paddington team. Special thanks go out to Ben Feltham, Scott Harden and the first engineers to use BaseStone on site – thank you for daring to be innovators!

BaseStone wins Innovation Excellence Award

2016 Celebration of Engineering & Technology Award goes to BaseStone

BaseStone recently received the prestigious Celebration of Engineering & Technology Innovation (CETI) Award, organised by Fiatech in the category of Life Cycle Data Management & Information Integration.

Judges commented that BaseStone’s trials were “proof of concept and moved the needle for effective data management”. They stated that BaseStone’s accomplishment links directly to Fiatech’s Productivity Advancement Targets and that BaseStone’s applications at various sites in London demonstrate “the effective transformation of field data collected into integrated business intelligence”.

The CETI Awards recognise companies who have implemented new technologies and innovative practices in capital projects – recognising those who have made significant strides in advancing innovation in research and development in Engineering. The CETI award celebrates the enrichment of the industry and how effective technological solutions can impact societies, create a competitive workforce, drive creativity and improve our future.

Although BaseStone was unable attend the Awards Gala held in Austin, Texas, last week, we are very pleased to have received the Award and are working to continue improving the industry and bringing about further technological innovation.

BaseStone ventures to Southeast Asia and wins ‘Smart Cities’ Pitch Competition.

BaseStone’s founder, Alex Siljanovski returned from Singapore and Malaysia last week following a highly successful trade mission to Singapore and Malaysia, organised by the UKTI. He arrived back in London not only with a wealth of new business relationships and fantastic experiences, but also with another award! BaseStone was presented the award for the best Smart Cities application by Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London himself, in a pitching competition at the British High Commissioner’s Residence in Singapore.

The market visit, organised by the UKTI as part of the Mayor’s Export Programme, enabled a selection of high growth companies to build their network and develop commercial links with businesses across Singapore and Malaysia. BaseStone was selected as one of the twenty companies to attend the trip, as a result of impressive traction within the UK construction industry. The importance of the fast-growing economies of Singapore and Malaysia made the trip a hugely valuable opportunity for all the selected companies.

BaseStone would like to thank the UKTI and the Mayor’s Export Programme for organising an incredibly successful Trade Mission. A huge announcement may be on the horizon…Stay tuned!

It’s been three weeks since Web Summit 2014. We had an incredible experience and wanted to give thanks to all that made it so great. We’ve received many congratulations on our win and are still reeling from it so we thought we would share our experience through some of our favourite photos.

A huge thank you to Paddy and the Web Summit team as well as everyone else for their support!
